#TwitterArtExhibit has moved into a new phase. The basic idea is an exhibition where artists from around the world donate original postcard-sized art to an exhibition where the proceeds of the sale of the art go to a non-profit organization. Cards are sold for $35 USD.

The first two exhibits were organized by David Sandum (twitter profile:
@DavidSandumArt) in 2010 in Norway for children's books in his home town library of Moss. And, in 2012, the Women's Crisis Center also in his home town.

This third exhibition will be taking place in Los Angeles, CA. USA. Future #TwitterArtExhibits will be organized in various places around the world with a target of two to three exhibitions a year.

A new website has been developed for the organization of the #TwitterArtExhibit
http://twitterartexhibit.org. Here you can find the information about this new format and  about the L.A. exhibition which is for the benefit of under-served youth (18-25) in L.A.’s Rampart District in the arts. Art Division LA The Exhibition is hosted at Exhale Unlimited (E.U.) Gallery.

I have participated in all of these exhibits. They serve as a way for me to help others in the best way that I know how to do - through my art!
You can also participate.
Entries are due by January 4, 2013

Twitter Art Exhibit #2

Poster for Moss Charity Exhibit

I will join international artists from around the globe in an exhibition to raise funds for a Norwegian Woman's Crisis Center. I have donated the below sumi-e for the exhibition which has been organized by Swedish-American artist David Sandum. The Exhibition comprises of 226 hand-painted original artworks from 29 countries (including; India, China, Japan, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Germany, UK, US, Australia, Canada, Sudan, Ireland, Somalia, South Africa, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, Switzerland, France, Spain, Venezuela, Mexico and Italy).

The exhibition, only the second of its kind will be heavily promoted via the social media application twitter, using the hashtag #twitterartexhibit. Opened by the towns Mayor and covered by the national Norwegian Press, the show will raise much needed funds for the crisis center by the sale or auction of the artworks.

The Women's Crisis Center in Moss, is where abused women and children can get help. The center also provides a 24 hour phone-service, counseling, food and shelter. It has lost a lot of its funding over the past year and had staffing cut from 19 to 11. This is a very important cause, not only for the women in a crisis situation but also for their children.

See their website for more information  (Norwegian)

You can purchase this poster to help contribute to the cause by going HERE

The Exhibition opens on Thursday the 12th of April and runs until Mid -June. There is a video being made of the art and I will share this with you when it becomes available on YouTube.

Walls of postcard size art from all over the globe sent to Moss, Norway!

This art event opened December 2, 2010 and will be open until February 2, 2011. This wonderful art was donated by international artists to help raise money for childrens' books in the library. Opening night 45 cards sold and raised 9000 NOK ($1479.00) for new books the first day! I understand that the people present were all exited and many took down names of artists and did research on the computers at the library.

Moss Library location of #twitterartexhibit

Moss Library, Norway

This is the location of the first International Twitter Art Exhibit held in Moss Norway. It is the brain child of @DavidSandumArt ~ David Sandum, painter. See my post of November 11, 2010 for more information about the art exhibit.

David writes on his blog, "As so many of you are involved in #twitterartexhibit, I figured I'd better take some pics after today's meeting with the library director. Moss is a small town with about 30.000 people, so the library is not exactly humongus. But it has three floors and is more than suffiecient for the populus. The library (bibliotek in Norwegian) is located in a part of town called Møllerbyen that used to be part of the towns industry (years ago). The wall will will be able to show 240 cards, and so far we've received art from 173 artists (4 more days to go until deadline ends Nov 27th). The library is located next to the city's movie theater (kino). You can read more about Moss, Norway here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss,_Norway

The statue/sculpture out in front (of the boy reading), is made by American sculptor in Moss (from NY state), Bruce Naigles - who is well known here and a close friend of mine (we used to have studios next to each other for three years). I think it is the most wonderful sculpture. Bruce is not on Twitter but you can find him on Facebook http://on.fb.me/evexNA and his website: http://www.naiglesart.com/"
